"We For the Gods we know not of, who give us our daily breath,
know they are cruel as love or life, and lovely as death."
Who were the gods of Gaul? Warriors, poets, artisans, providers; their functions and roles were many, but each of them valuable. These are the gods of our ancestors, the wise and witty warbands, the guides through the mists of the Otherworld, the gentle hand leading the soul through death and beyond. Known to us only by a few images and sparing inscriptions, difficult to isolate from the interpretatio of their Roman conquerors, the Gaulish gods live on still, reaching through the mists to speak to those who would seek them out.
